Vunivesi (Vuni) is a Research Scientist and Principal Agronomist who manages the Soil Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Forestry and Fishery at Vaini Research Station, Nukuálofa, Tonga.  Vuni has expertise in crop improvement specifically in Taro (Colocasia spp.) breeding.

Vuni led the Soil Management in Pacific Islands project activities in Tonga. He coordinated the field trials that quantified nutrient cycling in agricultural systems and explored the importance of nutrient budgeting for soil fertility management and increasing yield. He also assisted Dr. Siosiua Halavatau in conducting training as part of the project for farmers, exporters and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Forestry and Fishery Extension and Research staff on Nutrient deficiency symptom diagnostic skills, Quick Soil Test using Palin Test Kit and HANNA Quik Soil test kit and Fertiliser calculation and Recommendation based on Soil Test results.
