Olo Aleni Uelese is a Senior Research Scientist with the Agriculture Research Division in the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa and is based in Nafanua, Apia Samoa. Aleni works with his colleagues Seuseu Joseph Tauati, Ulugia Angelika Tugaga, Sharydia Alatise Tusa and Ellis Vaega in the soil health team.

Aleni led the led the field trials, managed the experimental design and set up, as well as the maintenance, harvesting and data collection of the taro field trial for the Soil management in Pacific Islands project. He also prepared samples for analysis and ensured all materials were procured and supplied. Aleni was previously in an executive role and managed the Soil Management in Pacific Islands project for Samoa when the project was under Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. During this time, Aleni managed the team at Nu’u, all project activities and travelled to Australia to present the project update in 2019.
