The Data Centre provides database administrator support for Oracle enterprise level databases at various sites within Oceans and Atmosphere, Food and Agriculture and National Collections and Marine Infrastructure. This covers backup and restores, applying security and other support patches, database migration to new versions and assisting users with schemas, access rights and support for APEX application development.
Data Centre applications uses Oracle spatial infrastructure to provide mapping services and the capacity for complex spatial joins. An example of the latter is the ARMADA application where data from web services by external providers is aggregated and queried against complex regions as part of a NESP Marine Biodiversity Hub project looking at existing data coverages.
The Data Centre staff are familiar with a range of database technologies (Postgres, MySQL and Access), and can assist in data migration, schema designs and resolving general database issues. We encourage staff to contact us at an early stage, particularly if you are interested in integrating data into our systems for further reuse.
