2017/18: Field studies releasing Wolbachia males

Debug’s goal in Innisfail was to test whether it was possible to significantly reduce mosquito populations and therefore hopefully reduce the threat of diseases such as dengue and Zika. The study compared areas where sterile male mosquitoes were released to similar areas where they were not.

The release sites were:
– Mourilyan
– South Johnstone
– Goondi Bend.

Releases have now wrapped up and results are being analysed.
