Our 2018 Impact

What’s our Impact?

Lindfield Collaboration Hub is an innovation incubator. A dedicated space for start-ups and SMEs to develop unique, high-tech products and devices. It is a facilitator of collaboration and a connector of opportunity.

2018 has been a huge year for the Lindfield Collaboration Hub. We are now close to 190 tenant staff onsite at CSIRO’s Lindfield campus. These companies have created a wonderful collaborative, innovative and inventive environment. They have had access to our facilities, science know-how, experience, business networks and commercialisation savvy and in return we have benefited by creating new opportunities for Australia’s industry, and have enjoyed the facilitation of academic and research organisations with start-up and SME’s lean and agile thinking.

We successfully hosted our second pre-accelerator program called Connect@Lindfield. This program took eight hard ware tech start-ups though an eight week intensive experience arming them with the business knowledge, connections and technical expertise to further refine their sustainable business model, seek funding for runway and apply for further acceleration or incubation.

CSIRO Lindfield and the Collaboration Hub played host to the Boosting Business Innovation Forum in June 2018. The forum aimed to facilitate stronger linkages between NSW-based SMEs and research organisations to the benefit of New South Wales. Through a series of interactive seminars spanning various topics from funding schemes, to new technology developments, and a concurrent day long expo, we successfully showcased the capabilities, facilities and support services which are available to SMEs who are interested in partnering with the BBIP members – 11 NSW universities and CSIRO. Matt Keane the Minister of Innovation and Better Regulation officially opened the BBIP Forum expo and championed the essence of innovation and research as a major factor in the future of the NSW economy.

We also had a hugely rewarding year working with our local councils in many small business initiatives, events and workshops, and once again collaborated with Inspiring Australia, the Spark Festival and organisations such as the Northern Sydney Science Hub to promote the next generation of Australian science and innovation.

We are looking forward to an even more exciting 2019, and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday period and New Year.
