Project summary description:
This project aims to develop a model capable of simulating boil-off from liquid hydrogen and LNG contained in a cryogenic storage tank or transfer systems. This will be done using thermodynamic models coupled with the principles of heat and mass transfer to model the behaviour of fluids within the tank and its interaction with the surrounding environment.
The model aims to offer accurate predictions of the following:
- Vessel conditions, such as pressure and temperature
- Boil-off production rate
- Weathering of LNG
- The incidence of stratification and its effects
- The behaviour of liquid hydrogen under typical storage condition
