Project summary description:
The Kwinana Energy Transformation Hub (KETH) is a key project being undertaken by the Future Energy Exports CRC (FEnEx CRC). In August 2022, it was announced that the project had entered its Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) stage. The facility will provide a low-risk live environment for demonstrating new technologies and processes to support decarbonisation of liquified natural gas (LNG) production as well as assist the development at scale of the emerging hydrogen sector. The facility will include:

  • 300 kW hydrogen electrolyser producing up to 144 kilograms per day of hydrogen
  • Hydrogen liquefier producing 100 kilograms per day of hydrogen
  • R&D facility for pilot-scale demonstrations of decarbonisation technologies
  • Sustainable certification and testing facility
  • Highly instrumented live-plant training environment

Development approvals were lodged in November 2024 in preparation for a market tender, and a hydrogen liquefier order placed.
