Hydrogen and pipeline steels: orientation dependence of fracture toughness

May 31st, 2022

R&D Focus Areas:
Pipeline materials and performance, Hydrogen embrittlement

Lead Organisation:
University of Queensland

Funding:
Future Fuels CRC

Status:
Active

Start date:
February 2022

Project summary description:
The worst-case influence on the fracture toughness caused by the orientation of the crack is being studied in RP3.1-10 ‘Hydrogen embrittlement of pipeline steels, subcritical crack growth and critical crack growth’. This project complements the RP3.1-10 activity by analysing the fracture toughness in two other crack orientations as well.
