Project summary description:
This PhD research project aims to address one of the key issues of utilising existing underground gas storage (UGS) in depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs for underground hydrogen storage (UHS). The research project intends to develop a novel cement-liner combination based on polymers to be used in UHS application that can last for a prolonged service period. This project provides solutions to address the wellbore integrity problems when utilising UGS facilities for UHS.
