Cryogenic hydrogen safety research

December 17th, 2021

R&D Focus Areas:
Cold/cryo compressed, Liquid hydrogen, Safety and standards

Lead Organisation:
University of Melbourne

Funding:
Fortescue Future Industries, Victorian State Government

Status:
Active

Start date:
October 2021

Project summary description:
This project aims to develop validated tools for quantitative risk assessment of hydrogen production, transport, and storage. Experimental and simulation research will be conducted to understand characteristics of accidental releases of cryogenic hydrogen. The outcome will guide hydrogen plant design and development of hydrogen handling/storage standards for effective and efficient application in industrial settings.
