We create new science, capabilities, and technologies across the emerging hydrogen value chain, supporting new Australian industries and large-scale emissions reduction. Collaboration is critical to achieving this purpose, and we draw skills from across the organisation to deliver projects. We also work closely with universities from around the country.
Our work program covers all aspects of the hydrogen value chain: next generation production; hydrogen carriers; storage and transport; and ensuring we have the capability to make the environmental, social, and economic case for hydrogen energy.
Many of these projects are undertaking the foundation science for the development of technologies that significantly reduce the number of process steps in the hydrogen value chain, offering increased efficiencies and lower cost. Our work is also addressing some scientific and technical barriers to the development of technologies that open up new value chains, supporting a diversification of production and distribution pathways.
