The image above compares the distribution of electrical conductivity for two survey lines in the Myalup Region of Western Australia. The distribution of electrical conductivity was derived by inverting airborne electromagnetic (AEM) data for a 1D earth.
Solid lines show the base of the Leederville Formation interpreted from the distribution of electrical conductivity. Dashed lines show the top and base of the Leederville Formation interpreted from borehole measurements of electrical resistivity (grey and cyan columns). Agreement between the two interpretations is excellent and highlights the benefit of using experts to perform geophysical inversion of high-quality AEM data for the characterisation of groundwater resources.
