Sense-T’s innovative web application that brings together real-time data about the oyster industry has taken out a 2013 Tasmanian iAward. John Mculloch from the Distributed Sensing Systems Group is the technical lead for this work.

The awards recognise innovation in the ICT industry, with regional winners going on to compete in national and Asia-Pacific competitions.

The winning app was developed by CSIRO scientists as part of Sense-T’s Aquaculture Optimisation Project. It gives a digital overview of oyster farms across Tasmania, overlaying geographical, historical and real-time sensor data, including data from the Bureau of Meterology and sensors on oyster farms.
