CSIRO Entrepreneurship Award: eShepherd Virtual Fencing Team

Congratulations to the eShepherd Virtual Fencing Team and our industry partners Agersens who received this year’s CSIRO Entrepreneurship Award for pioneering the commercialisation of the world’s first livestock virtual fence.

Our Group has worked extensively on digital agriculture, from tracking livestock position, real-time classification of their activities through wearable sensors, in-rumen wireless gas sensing, including the virtual fencing technology, which we developed and patented, through collaborative work.

eShepherd is a cloud-based, solar-powered, GPS-enabled virtual fencing system to help farmers keep track of their cattle.

Our Group was proudly represented by Dr Phil Valencia, Team Leader and Senior Research Engineer.

Our eShepherd Virtual Fencing Team have taken out our Enterepeneurship Award. eShepherd is a cloud-based, solar-powered, GPS-enabled virtual fencing system to help farmers keep track of their cattle.
