Resource Planning & Optimisation
A diverse team with strong modelling and analytics skills that leads and works on externally funded projects across transport & logistics planning, supply chains, agriculture yield mapping, water resource assessment. Most of our projects are around the development and application of TraNSIT domestically and internationally.
Our vision and purpose are to develop computer based tools to provide decision support to government and industry for investments and regulatory changes in agriculture, transport and water infrastructure. These investments improve access to key regional resources and markets, increasing rural prosperity and its resilience under unforeseen events.
The project team has a combination of quantitative skills across simulation, optimisation and spatial analysis, combined with a set of tools deeply entrenched in government across all three levels. Through relationships across more than 300 government and industry groups across Australia, the project team is able to combine technical skills with an intimate understanding of the practical problem, this being the go to team for infrastructure planning. This has led to a high level of science impact.
The TraNSIT modelling tool is the most significant technology developed by the team over the past 8 years, incorporating multi-sourced big data at a fine-scale and expertise from industry and government. The team has entrenched TraNSIT in several government strategies and visions (e.g. white papers, Australian infrastructure plan, freight and supply chain strategy), and has therefore become the tool of choice for many major government initiatives (e.g. Inland Rail, Roads of Strategic Importance). Through these initiatives, applications and evolving government priorities, the team has identified several strategic opportunities for TraNSIT, which will require investment in functionality and performance. The team will invest in TraNSIT Web so it will grow as a platform for delivering key outputs to government and industry.
Expertise and external relationships developed through TraNSIT have given rise to a broader capability in logistics and supply chains that the project team can provide to external clients.
