Adaptation Pathways & Social Transitions

The team undertakes collaborative research to understand the state and trajectory of social-ecological systems of interest to stakeholders and decision-making processes. We design innovative interventions that enable building resilience, effective adaptation and/or transformation to mitigate, prepare and respond to climate change, disasters and other socio-economic and biophysical threats.

We help diverse national and international stakeholders across many sectors and scales navigate uncertainty and disruption from climate change, extreme events and other shocks by understanding systemic causes , identifying future risks and utilising emerging opportunities to build robust pathways for sustainable futures .

Our work mitigates and reduces vulnerability to disasters, improves climate risk governance, biodiversity and conservation management, strengthens biosecurity and infrastructure, and builds sustainable livelihoods through working collaboratively with partners and stakeholders to develop and apply leading edge resilience, adaptation and transformation research approaches and tools for sustainable outcomes.
