Active Leakage Detection

Water main failure is one of the major challenges to water utilities’ daily operation and maintenance. In the current practice, water leakage is one of the most important failures. It can be concealed on the buried pipes and progressively become larger and be undiscovered until the water reaches the ground surface. As the later stage of pipe leak can also cause high lost as well. Data61 is using machine learning based data analytics techniques to improve the prediction and selection for active leakage detection that the water utilities are currently focusing on. The methods are based historical data, such as failure records and minimum night flow.
