We’re saying no to SUP!
Last week, we supported the Indo-Pacific Plastics Innovation Network (IPPIN) Demo Day to showcase innovations that aim to reduce the use of single use plastics in Vietnam.
To celebrate the entrepreneurial skills of global innovators, we’ll be sharing some of the innovations with you over the next few weeks, starting with Beat the Sachet, an initiative combating ocean microplastics caused by single-use plastic sachets.
The project promotes refill and reuse as a sustainable alternative. By introducing refillable bottles to replace shampoo sachets, particularly in marginalised and low-income communities, Beat The Sachet provides consumers with 100ml reusable bottles for shampoo, enabling them to access refill services.
Their pilot project in India successfully prevented approximately 5,000 sachets monthly from entering the waste stream. Now, the initiative aims to adapt and implement this solution in Vietnam, addressing the country’s specific context and further reducing plastic waste and protecting the environment.
