Real – time seawater monitoring system to local communities
A seawater monitoring system developed in a project funded by the Aus4Innovation program was transferred to the People’s Committee of Song Cau district, Phu Yen province this week.
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HCMUT) have worked together to introduce a water monitoring technology from UTS and adapt it to Vietnam’s needs. The system is the first of its kind in Vietnam, and among very few in the world that can provide real-time offshore environmental measurements in hostile conditions that include saltwater corrosion and heavy seasonal tropical storms.
Four monitoring stations built at Xuan Dai Bay in Phu Yen are providing real-time data on the seawater quality for local authorities and communities, especially farmers who are raising lobsters at sea as this will help protect their precious investment.
