Setting up for ACCESS-ESM1.5

These instructions are designed to get you setup and ready to continue the ACCESS-ESM1.5 training contained in this wiki.

1. Setup an NCI account:
   • https://my.nci.org.au/mancini/signup/0
2. Join NCI project hh5 (required for payu):
   • https://my.nci.org.au/mancini/project/hh5
3. Join an NCI project for compute usage (dependent on your organisation):
   • https://my.nci.org.au/mancini/project
4. Join the ACCESS group:
   • https://my.nci.org.au/mancini/project/access/join

5. Login to NCI:

   1. (Optional) Setup a VDI (virtual desktop using Strudel, recommended for slow/unstable connections):
      1. https://opus.nci.org.au/display/Help/VDI+User+Guide
      2. Open terminal from a VDI (Applications → System Tools → Terminal)

   2. Connect via a terminal: (USER_ID is the account name from step 1)

      $ ssh -X USER_ID@gadi.nci.org.au
      

6. Follow the ‘ACCESS-ESM with payu’ Quickstart Guide & README:
   • https://github.com/coecms/esm-pre-industrial; or
   • https://github.com/coecms/esm-historical
7. Join the ARCCSS Slack:
   1. https://join.slack.com/t/arccss/signup (requires a CLEX/CSIRO/BoM email)
   2. Join the Slack channel #access-esm
