Cities play a dominant role in all aspects of human life. Continuing global trend of increasing urbanisation creates economic opportunities, but also environmental and social challenges. Big data revolution, which made a vast amount of data available for study helps us to quantify, understand and improve urban life. Analysis of both the traditional statistical data and data from new sources (from mobile devices, smart travel cards, online mapping platforms, etc.) paves the way for smarter, greener, more efficient and happier cities
