CSIRO Towards Net Zero Mission

Getting to net zero is critical, and Australia can get there in a way that builds prosperity and inclusivity.

Dr Courtney Regan presents at CSIRO's Towards Net Zero Forum.

Understanding the applicability and cost of mitigation technologies across Australia's diverse production systems.

Dr Kwaku Owusu is exploring stacking multiple innovations into new cost-effective value chains to ensure the Australian steel industry meets net zero goals.

Dr Humair Nadeem presents at CSIRO's Towards Net Zero Forum

Dr Humair Nadeem on the need for a systems approach to the development of a more sustainable iron ore to green steel supply chain in Australia.

Dr Zelalem Moti presents at the Towards Net Zero Forum

Why are so many sustainability-oriented technologies and solutions facing limited adoption?   Dr Zelalem Moti wants to understand why and how we can change this problem.

We hosted the Towards Net Zero Forum on 12 and 13 June at the State Library of Victoria.

towards net zero,

By focusing on three industry value chains; iron ore to steel, sustainable aviation fuel and agriculture the mission is accelerating decarbonisation in these sectors and use learnings to identify approaches for other hard-to-abate sectors.

Biochar in the greensteel process

The technology produces a metallurgical grade of biochar that is a net-zero emissions fuel source and replacement for coal in the steelmaking process.

net zero agriculture

Working with the Queensland Government, we developed the Low Emissions Pathways for Queensland Agrifood. This has informed the government's Low Emissions Agriculture Roadmap.
