Sustainable fuel: Australian scientists working to fix aviation’s problems

Sustainable aviation fuel is a focus area for our industrial decarbonisation work. Warren Flentje, Industrial Decarbonisation lead for the Toward Net Zero Mission, was interviewed by the Australian Financial Review to explain the benefits and challenges to developing an Australian sustainable aviation fuel industry.

“A vibrant sustainable aviation fuel industry can provide a valuable market for our farmers and livelihoods for regional communities and play a significant role in managing waste streams which are otherwise landfilled. But this must be managed carefully to avoid negative impacts on food and ecosystems,” Warren said.
