About Terria Spatial Digital Twin Early Adopter Program
Unlocking access to spatial digital twin technology and expertise to accelerate digital transformation journeys for organisations across Australia.
The Challenge
‘Digital by default’ is the future of infrastructure projects. But for many organisations cost and complexity are barriers to integrate digital twin research and technology.
Falling productivity and increased competition are driving digital transformation in Australia’s infrastructure sectors. Governments across the nation are advocating for ‘digital by default’ infrastructure strategies. However, many organisations often encounter hurdles in adopting spatial digital twin technology to digitally transform existing workflows. This is primarily due to the high costs and complexities that have been associated with these systems.
Adopting a spatial digital twin involves not only the cost of acquiring the technology but also integrating it into existing operations, and the necessary training. These systems require a high degree of technical expertise to operate effectively, which can be a scarce resource within smaller enterprises.
The integration process itself can be intricate, demanding substantial adjustments to existing workflows and possibly leading to disruptions in day-to-day operations.
Our Response
Terria Digital Twin Early Adopter Program
CSIRO’s Terria team have extensive experience supporting state government programs on spatial digital twin-enabled digital transformation programs, for example, the NSW Spatial Digital Twin and Digital Twin Victoria. However, recognising the barriers faced by many small and medium organisations, Terria launched the Digital Twin Early Adopter Program (EAP) in May 2023.
The EAP was designed from a customer-centric perspective to facilitate ongoing industry partnerships at low cost and risk. It aimed to enable organisations to co-design a proof of concept of a digital transformation use case critical to their own organisational needs, and trial Terria’s pre-market advanced spatial digital twin technology into their operations to improve efficiency, communication, collaboration and reduce risks during the infrastructure development lifecycle.
The EAP enabled an ongoing exchange of value and knowledge, ensuring that both industry stakeholders and Terria’s teams mutually benefit from continuous co-design to shape Terria technology into a digital transformation powerhouse.
