A message from the Australian Synthetic Biology Challenge:

The Australian Synthetic Biology Challenge has continued on for its inaugural pilot year, despite the disruptions of 2020! The Australian Synthetic Biology Challenge is an annual event where teams consisting of Undergraduate and Master’s students from universities all over Australia develop their own projects targeting a significant problem in society using Synthetic Biology. This year there are four teams (from ANU, QUT, UMELB and UWA), developing exciting projects on ocean plastic degradation, COVID-19 stem cell therapeutics, Cryptococcus diagnostic tests, and melanin compound production in new Australian industrial yeasts. The Australian Synthetic Biology Challenge is proudly supported by the CSIRO SynBio FSP and Twist Bioscience.

For more information on the Challenge, keep an eye out for the soon to be launched website.  If you would like to be involved in the organisation of the Challenge please send an email to aussynbiochallenge<at>gmail.com – we’d love to hear from you!

Final announcement is a date claimer for the Final Showcase Event which has been scheduled for the 20 October 2020!  We hope you can join us!
