The SBA2019 organising committee is delighted to announce that the Synthetic Biology Australasia 2019 conference will be held on Monday 14th – Wednesday 16th October, 2019 at Customs House, Brisbane, Australia. SBA 2019 is co-hosted by The University of Queensland and the CSIRO Synthetic Biology Future Science Platform.

SBA2019 will provide a forum for academic and industry researchers to present the latest research findings and describe emerging technologies and directions in synthetic biology. Leading international and Australian scientists will present, and we have a strong commitment to providing presentation opportunities for early and mid-career researchers.

The program includes both biophysical and social science, as well as industry presentations. There will be plenty of opportunities for networking, and we invite scientists from all related disciplines to attend. Please join us to see the latest synthetic biology advances!

The SBA 2019 conference website is now open for registration and abstract submission. Details for plenary speakers will be added shortly. Early bird registration discounts close on June 30th. SBA members get substantial discounts on registration; ECRs (student and post-doc) members of SBA are eligible to apply for travel awards of $250 (membership can be purchased here). Registration places are limited, so please register early to avoid disappointment.

Synthetic Biology Australasia (SBA) is a professional society established in 2014 that supports synthetic biology collaboration and communication between scientists, industry and the broader community. SBA’s inaugural conference was held in Canberra in April 2016, with a second conference, SBA2017 held in Sydney in September 2017. The conference is now held biennially.

Venue: Customs House, 399 Queen Street, Brisbane, is one of Brisbane’s heritage icons, located on the river in the CBD. It is The University of Queensland’s premier downtown restaurant, function and heritage facility.
