A consortium of six research partners, both within Australia and in India, are working collaboratively on this three-year project.  Each partner organisation brings a team of researchers with a diversity of expertise.

Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI)

The National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) is a constituent laboratory of The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), based in India.  CSIR-NEERI undertakes cutting-edge research and innovation in environmental science and engineering for industry, government and the community.

Development Alternatives

The Development Alternatives vision is “a world where every citizen can live a secure, healthy and fulfilling life, in harmony with nature”.  Development Alternatives, based in India, is dedicated to sustainable development and striving to deliver socially equitable, environmentally sound and economically scalable development outcomes via research and action.

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI)

The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is an independent, multi-dimensional organisation of innovators and agents of change in the areas of energy, the environment, climate change and sustainability.  TERI has capabilities in research, policy, consultancy and implementation and has produced research-based solutions impacting both industry as well as communities. TERI is headquartered in New Delhi, India. It has 1000-plus team of scientists, engineers, economists, sociologists, etc. delivering insightful and high quality action-oriented research and offering transformative solutions supported by state- of-the-art infrastructure.

University of New South Wales – Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT)

The Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology (SMaRT) sits within the University of New South Wales (UNSW).  The Centre has a focus on the development of innovative environmental solutions for the world’s biggest waste challenges.  They have a track record of delivering research and technology suitable for rapid implementation which has real world impact.

University of Technology Sydney – Institute for Sustainable Futures (UTS-ISF)

The Institute for Sustainable Futures is a research institute of the University of Technology Sydney who undertake a diverse range of research for both Australian and international funders.  Their project-based research delivers both independent and practical solutions to help governments, organisations, businesses and communities move towards a more sustainable future.

Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)

CSIRO is Australia’s national science agency.
