National Circular Economy Roadmap Launched in India
The National Circular Economy Roadmap for Reducing Plastic Waste in India was officially launched today by Dr Jitendra Singh, India’s Honourable Minister of State (I/C) for Science & Technolgy and Dr Nallathamby Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR, at the CSIR Science Centre in New Delhi.
A result of the three-year research collaboration between research partners in India – CSIR NEERI, Development Alternatives and TERI, and Australia – CSIRO, UNSW and UTS and part of the Australia-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The roadmap offers a comprehensive view of the entire plastics value chain and systemic recommendations towards a circular economy for plastics in India. It highlights the urgency of the plastic waste problem and sets a path to transition to a circular economy to address environmental issues and foster positive economic outcomes.
