Quantum Robotics

Overview

Quantum robotics is an emerging field that combines concepts from quantum mechanics and robotics to explore the potential benefits and applications of quantum technologies in the field of robotics. By harnessing quantum effects such as superposition, entanglement, and quantum computation, researchers aim to develop robots that can perform tasks more efficiently, solve complex problems, and adapt to changing environments.

Our interests

Our team at CSIRO seeks to understand and demonstrate the quantum advantages inherent in quantum machine learning algorithms over their classical analogues. Not only does our group specialise in the development of quantum reinforcement learning algorithms, but we also aim to build a physical robotic system which can be trained to respond to its environment in real time. In collaboration with our industry partner Quantum Brilliance, we will use quantum hardware (QPUs) to run our quantum algorithms and train our robotic system, demonstrating once and for all a truly quantum artificial intelligence.
