The AusEcoModels Framework describes a nationally comprehensive set of conceptual models (termed ‘archetype’ models) of ecosystem dynamics in Australia. They were developed from a synthesis of ecological science and land management expertise.
The models describe the variable characteristics and drivers of ecosystems in their reference state (or reference condition) and are consistent with the concept of an ecosystem type used in the System for Environmental Economic Accounting – Ecosystem Accounting (SEEA EA).
The AusEcoModels Framework includes methods and templates for the application of archetype models to the development of contemporary ecosystem state and transition models (STMs).
The archetype models in the AusEcoModels Framework cover 45 ecosystem types in the terrestrial, coastal and (partially) freshwater realms in Australia.
