Ngarlbugala 2024 Australian SKA Office update

It’s been another busy year supporting the SKA project, working closely with CSIRO, the SKA Observatory and the Wajarri Yamaji. We’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing efforts and partnership.

If I was to call out a couple of highlights for the Australian SKA Office, they would include the invaluable opportunity to learn about Wajarri Yamaji culture and the benefits of the SKA project at a Cultural Awareness Training event (see photo below).

Also, the National Indigenous Australians Agency has recognised the partnership between the department, CSIRO and the Wajarri Yamaji Aboriginal Corporation to deliver the SKA-Low project under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. This highlights the importance of working together to deliver better outcomes for First Nations communities – this continues to be a priority for us in the delivery of the SKA project.

On behalf of the Australian SKA Office, I’d like to wish you all a very happy holiday season and New Year!
