Measuring Gross Pollutant Traps in Hobart
Not all scientific research is high-tech and wearing lab coats! Recently, members of the Marine Debris team have been out and about in Hobart measuring the depth of litter in roadside Gross Pollutant Traps or GPTs. They are using the old ‘measure it with a big ruler’ method which, as you know, requires utmost skill.
These measurements, along with other data such as rain fall, population density and land slope, will help build a computer model to help storm water management in municipalities around Australia.
