Lao PDR (Luang Prabang) – Training and Field Campaign

From Monday 8^th to Wednesday 14^th May, CSIRO joined by 31 participants from the Lao PDR Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) and Lao PDR Natural Resources and Environment Research Institute (NRERI), including the Lao National Mekong committee Secretariat, province staff, representatives from the Mekong River Commission and other Line agencies to conduct “‘Capacity building and pilot survey for baseline assessment of litter in the environment in Lao PDR”. This represents the first litter survey of its type in Lao PDR. After two days of training and capacity building activities, the team completed 44 inland and 25 rivers transects within a 50km radius of Luang Prabang, the first baseline survey of litter in Lao PDR, an outstanding effort!
