XRF applications for earth sciences – [presentation]

June 2nd, 2021

Recently, a team of CSIRO scientists presented at the XFM microscopy workshop hosted by the Australian Synchrotron. The technology was introduced by Dr Chris Ryan who presented:
XRF analysis and imaging at XFM using GeoPIXE

Followed by a combined talk by Louise Schoneveld, Siyu Hu & Steve Barnes on The wide applications of XRF and XANES in geology: exploring life on the edge and unlocking the secrets of magmatic sulfide systems

Part 1 – Using pyroxene as an exploration tool for Nickel; Dr Louise Schoneveld [PDF]

Part 2 – Finding Platinum Needles in Igneous Haystacks; Dr Steve Barnes – CSIRO

Part 3 – Life on the Edge, understanding life in extreme environments; Dr Siyu Hu – CSIRO
