Mantle Magmas Through Time – [publication]
A new paper by the team has recently appeared online. The paper uses trace element geochemistry to look at how the chemistry of mantle derived magmas (basalts and komatiites) has changed through Earth history. We find that a gradual but major change in mantle sources happened through the mid-Proterozoic, between about 1900 and 1100 years ago. This change is related to the onset of modern-style subduction recycling crustal material into the deep mantle. Check out the paper at this link:
