Indicator minerals have been used for many years in diamond exploration, where the deep red garnets and bright green pyroxenes signify the high pressure environments that may contain diamonds. In the magmatic sulfide systems, we are looking for changes in the chemistry of the minerals that indicate sulfide saturation however we have to turn to advanced tools and technologies to measure and visualise this chemistry. In this week’s talk with Louise Schoneveld we’ll cover which minerals are the most useful for the exploration of nickel sulfide and how you can use these minerals to explore in deep cover.
