Mark van Wijk: Senior Scientist

Mark is a Senior Scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), currently based in Ecuador. Mark is the ILRI contact for LiveGAPS. He has 15 years of experience working on both fundamental and applied research in agro-ecosystems around the world. He has a particular interest in livelihood analyses of smallholder farmers in developing countries. Mark has worked for more than 15 years on these systems combining empirical data collection and theoretical model analyses on crop and livestock production and their interplay at farm level. These analyses were used to target and prioritise intervention options, and to assess the likely consequences of adoption of these interventions, all of which were Mark’s contribution to LiveGAPS.
