Site Set-Up

The CSIRO In-Situ Laboratory (ISL) is a field site south of Perth in Western Australia, located in a major fault zone. It consists of three instrumented wells up to 400 m deep: 1) Harvey-2 to be used primarily for fluid injection & production, 2) ISL OB-1, a fibreglass geophysical monitoring well with behind-casing monitoring instrumentation, and 3) a shallow (27 m) groundwater well for fluid sampling.

The ISL has been well characterised based on comprehensive geological and geophysical data sets, interpretations and models that form the basis for field experiments.

Recent upgrades to the site enable continuous monitoring and remote access to data for quasi-real time data visualisation and analysis.
