Sub-project 4 – April 2020

Researchers have now developed codes and ‘pipelines’ for handling whole genome sequencing data, and incorporated these codes into the SPREAD application. SPREAD has the capability to model wind dispersion of FMD virus at farm-to-farm level. Researchers will use data from historical outbreaks, where there was evidence of wind dispersion of FMD, to validate the SPREAD model, because real-time experiments using FMD virus dispersion are obviously not possible!
