Together with our partners and collaborators we are building a new generation of evacuation decision support tools to improve emergency planning and response, assist emergency management authorities and better prepare the local communities.

SEEKER Tool

Simulations of Emergency Evacuations for Knowledge, Education and Response (SEEKER) is a decision support tool that helps key people in emergency management to make safer and more informed decisions regarding evacuations. SEEKER is expected to allow trained emergency management to:

Carry out a preliminary analysis of the potential impact of a predicted wildfire on a road network;
Design an evacuation scenario to be simulated;
Run an evacuation simulation; and
Visualize the outcome of the simulated evacuation and produce summary results.

SAFER Tool

The Statewide Analysis of Fire Evacuation Risk (SAFER) tool measures the combined risk imposed by multiple fires across the full geographic extent of an Australian state. The tool computes several evacuability risk-metrics from a given set of input data comprising a road network, a population dataset, and the geographical extents of wildfire scenarios.

PiXIE for pedestrian and evacuation dynamics

PiXIE is a library that can be used for pedestrian flow modelling and evacuation. It is suitable for microscopic modelling of human crowds where individuals are represented as agents navigating a potentially complex environment. Emergency evacuations of large scale venues such as multi-storey building, shopping malls, stadiums, etc. can be simulated using the PiXIE platform.
