Olivia Belshaw is a Secondary Science Teacher at Jindabyne Central School NSW.
Secondary school – in particular, Senior Chemistry, Biological and Earth Sciences. I also actively lead a variety of diverse teaching teams to effectively integrate STEM skills and learning activities across Kindergarten to Year 12.
What inspired you to apply for the Educator on Board program?
I am always looking for opportunities to develop my capacity as a teacher to integrate current research and real world problems in to the science and STEM classroom. The Educator on Board program exposes me to real world research that I could link to learning, to develop meaningful activities for students across Australia. It would also provide with me so many opportunities to learn myself, helping to reinvigorate my love for science and science education.
What are you most looking forward to on the vessel?
Getting to be a “nerd” and immerse myself in some fantastic science research opportunities. I am so excited to learn about current scientific research being conducted in Australia. In addition, hands-on learning by participating in data and sample collection.
