Jamie Menzies is a Learning and Access Officer at the Scottish Maritime Museum and Research Assistant at The University of Edinburgh.

Jamie joins this voyage as a guest of the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh, who are voyage collaborators. While Educator on Board isn’t open to international teachers, participation on this voyage has been supported via berths donated from the international Science Team.

What is your teaching focus?

STEM learning in museums and science centres, particularly for early years (3-5 year olds) and primary schools.

What inspired you to be part of the Educator on Board program?

The Educator on Board program is a chance to connect with real science and explore a different part of the world. I’m really excited to be a part of the program and share my experiences with schools and institutions back home in Scotland.

What are you most looking forward to seeing aboard the vessel?

As an Earth Scientist I’m looking forward to seeing some cool dredged volcanic rock samples and (hopefully) some interesting marine life, too.
