AJARE’s Best Paper Prize winner for 2020: Regional development economics for regional prosperity
This work stems from a project analysing potential future regional development pathways involving economic structural changes triggered by the global transitions to low carbon societies and increased use of renewable energy. The ‘latent economic vulnerability to emissions reduction’ (LEVER) index is a policy tool to identify regions that are currently carbon intensive and to monitor their transition into alternative directions. CSIRO economists are working on projects that analyse benefits and impacts from these shifts, flow-on effects and potential future development outcomes.
