Artificial Intelligence tools

December 8th, 2020

Our Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools transform our ability to efficiently manage our ecosystems to maximise biodiversity.

Our researchers have developed award-winning AI algorithms that optimise decision-making under uncertain present and future conditions, to maximise adaptability and interpretability of the solutions tailored to conservation problems. These algorithms are applied by managers to help conserve threatened species and manage invasive species and diseases worldwide.

CSIRO is collaborating with the NSW saving our species program to demonstrate the gain in efficiency and cost-effectiveness of using AI to optimally monitor and adaptively manage NSW listed species. This pilot program builds on eight years of research on harnessing AI to better inform management decisions and prioritise investments in natural capital to slow the loss of biodiversity.
