Network of Innovation Actors

What this workstream is about
The Network of Innovation Actors workstream is dedicated to strengthening national innovation ecosystem by facilitating and supporting the collaboration among key stakeholders, such as government agencies, academia, the private sector, and the communities to foster information exchange, knowledge sharing, and more effective resource mobilisation. Building on the success of Phase One, Agriculture and Food remains to be the focused area. Central to this workstream is the continued effort to build intermediary capacity to key actors, and demonstrating novel intermediary models to bridge the gaps in the innovation network and enable a more effective interaction so that challenges can be solved through innovative solutions.
How it is delivered

Capacity building initiatives
Targeted training, workshops, and networking events have been designed and delivered to partners to enhance their ability to share and discuss their issues, access to knowledge and information, and ultimately coming up with joint solutions to solve the common challenges. Among these discussions, inclusive matters such as gender equality, engaging with people with disability, and social inclusion have been substantially embedded to ensure that innovation achieved will be sustainable and inclusive.

Intermediary models co-designed and developed
Building on the experiments from phase 1, the Network of Innovation Actors continue in phase 2 to work closely with partners in the innovation system to enhance different types of intermediary models, which aim to building the resilience and absorptive capacity for selected industry, or the innovation capacity to support inclusive and sustainable development at a regional scale. Four models are being demonstrated at the moment, including:
- The Horticulture Innovation Club (HIC)
- The Pig Biosecurity Innovation Alliance (PBIA)
- The Central Highland Innovation Cluster (CHIC)
- The Mekong Aquaculture Innovation Cluster

Enabling environment strengthened
Expanding upon previous efforts to support priorities from the Government to further commercialisation capacity and developing the science and technology market, the team will continue strengthening the excellent collaboration between Australian and Vietnamese experts for effective sharing of knowledge and technology around commercialisation. Deep-dive joint research, insights and lessons captured from the work on the ground will be used to informed policies to address bottlenecks that hinder commercialisation processes, as well we the development of the science and technology market.
What success looks like
By collaborating with key stakeholders in the system, identifying the common challenges and coming up with joint solutions, or policy recommendations, we aim to catalyse an innovation network, where:

Partners’ innovation capabilities are enhanced, so that they can act as effective facilitators within innovation networks, mobilizing diverse expertise and resources to assist industries to grow, while pursuing social and environmental aspirations.

Diverse and inclusive innovation intermediary models are adopted, with partners up-take the novel approaches and apply them to uplift and reform the functioning of existing intermediary agencies.

Policies and regulations to support commercialisation and science & technology market are better informed, with concrete evidence from the work on the ground, as well as international best practices and experience, including those from Australia.
