Network of Innovation Actors

Overview
The Network of Innovation Actors workstream is dedicated to strengthening the national innovation ecosystem by facilitating and supporting collaboration among key stakeholders, such as government agencies, academia, the private sector, and communities to foster information exchange, knowledge sharing, and more effective resource mobilisation. Central to this work is the continued effort to build intermediary capacity for key actors, and to demonstrate novel intermediary models to bridge gaps in the innovation network. This will enable a more effective interaction among stakeholders such that common challenges can be solved through collective innovative solutions.
Key activities

Capacity building initiatives
Targeted training, workshops, and networking events have been designed and delivered to enhance partners’ ability to share and discuss common challenges, access to knowledge and information, and ultimately develop joint solutions. Inclusive matters such as gender equality, engaging with people with disabilities, and social inclusion are substantially embedded to ensure sustainable and inclusive innovation.

Co-designing and developing of intermediary models
By working closely with partners in the innovation system we continue to enhance different intermediary models, which aim to build resilience and absorptive capacity for selected industries, or support inclusive and sustainable development at a regional scale. Four models are currently being demonstrated, including:
- The Horticulture Innovation Club (HIC)
- The Pig Biosecurity Innovation Alliance (PBIA)
- The Central Highland Innovation Cluster (CHIC)
- The Mekong Aquaculture Innovation Cluster

Strengthening the enabling environment
To support Government priorities in furthering commercialisation capacity and developing the science and technology market, the team continues to strengthen the effective knowledge sharing between Australia and Vietnam around technology commercialisation. Deep-dive joint research, insights and lessons captured from the work will be used to inform policies to address bottlenecks that hinder commercialisation processes and the development of the science and technology market.
Expected achievements
By collaborating with key stakeholders in the system, identifying common challenges and developing joint solutions, or policy recommendations, we aim to catalyse an innovation network, where:

Partners’ innovation capabilities are enhanced, so that they can act as effective facilitators within innovation networks, mobilizing diverse expertise and resources to assist industries to grow, while pursuing social and environmental aspirations.

Diverse and inclusive innovation intermediary models are adopted, where partners utilise the novel approaches and apply them to uplift and reform the functioning of existing intermediary agencies.

Policies and regulations to support commercialisation and science & technology market are better informed, with concrete evidence from practical work, as well as international best practices and experience, including those from Australia.
