Uniting Central Highlands to brand agricultural products
The five provinces in the Central Highlands – Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Gia Lai and Kon Tum – have come together to found the Central Highland Innovation Cluster, an initiative sponsored by the #Aus4Innovation program.
The Innovation Cluster is bringing together research, business, community and government to develop and promote innovations that can help the region’s agri-food sector respond to productivity, processing and quality challenges, and build resilience to external shocks, such as market or climate pressures.
Vietnam’s Central Highlands region is a major agricultural hub, known in particular for the production of coffee, pepper, tea, fruit and vegetables. While recent rapid growth in agriculture has improved income and livelihoods for many in the region, its export focus leaves it vulnerable to market fluctuations. It is believed that by forming a cluster, the region can crowdsource new ideas and solutions for mutual challenges and strengthen its agricultural products.
