Tackling sustainability challenges of the Central Highlands

July 16th, 2024

Provincial leaders across the Central Highlands recently convened in Lam Dong province to jointly identify agriculture sustainability challenges and design responsive solutions. The meeting was organized as part of the Central Highlands Cluster, an initiative supported by the Aus4Innovation programme and implemented in partnership with Australia’s national science agency – CSIRO. The focus was on finding smart ways to manage water, reduce carbon footprints, improve agro-processing techniques, and maintain high standards and certifications for agricultural products.

Parallel to this discussion, a technical workshop titled “Adaptation Pathways” zeroed in on drought and water management. It brought together a diverse group from the coffee and fruit sectors, emphasising the importance of a unified approach to foresee and adapt to future water-related challenges. The session aimed to forge a communal vision and practical strategies to ensure the Central Highlands can blossom sustainably. It also enabled local producers to connect with experts in technology and knowledge, fostering a community ready to implement innovative solutions for sustainability and growth.

Thanks to the vibrant support from Lam Dong and dedication of the provinces, the Central Highlands is poised for a sustainable future. Here’s to our collective progress!
