Innovation partnerships
The Innovation Partnerships workstream is designed to enhance and leverage connections within and between the Vietnamese and Australian innovation systems. Our focus centers around two key activities: strengthening Triple Helix relationships within Vietnam and enhancing international collaborations between Vietnam and Australia.
Strengthening triple helix relationships
Objective: Improve collaboration between government, academia, and industry to align and strengthen policies and regulations for a robust innovation system.
Activities:
- Hosting workshops and roundtables to facilitate policy dialogues.
- Incorporating gender specialists and professionals from organizations of persons with disabilities into the Advisory Board to ensure inclusivity.
- Supporting demand-driven innovation initiatives where research institutions work closely with the private sector to solve real-world problems.
Capacity building for SMEs
Objective: Equip SMEs with the skills to develop, maintain relationships with research institutions, and implement new technologies.
Activities:
- Training programs on innovation management and technology adoption.
- Creating mentorship programs linking SMEs with experienced industry and academic leaders.
Supporting and enhancing innovation hubs
Objective: Foster a collaborative environment where SMEs, academics, government, and investors can connect and share resources.
Activities:
- Scaling up successful clubs and clusters to new regions or sectors.
- Establishing or enhancing physical and digital co-working spaces.
- Organizing networking events and innovation showcases to build trust and partnerships.
- Providing ongoing support and resources to existing setups.

Enhancing international collaborations
Objective: Leverage strong domestic relationships within Vietnam to boost capacities for international engagement, particularly with Australia.
Activities:
- Developing exchange programs for government officials and innovation leaders.
- Organizing bilateral innovation forums to facilitate knowledge and resource exchange.
Establishment of the Australia-Vietnam Innovation Centre (AVIC)
Objective: Create a sustainable platform for continuous collaboration between the two nations.
Activities:
- Conducting stakeholder meetings to finalize the form and function of AVIC, with an initial leaning towards an online platform.
- Ensuring the sustainability of AVIC by integrating long-term funding and operational strategies during the planning phase.
Strategic focus
Vietnam: Enhance the national innovation system through strengthened internal collaborations among government, industry, and academia, while focusing on inclusivity and real-world impact.
Australia-Vietnam Collaboration: Develop systems and platforms that promote mutual benefit through resource exchange, capacity building, and joint innovation projects.
Expected outcomes
- Enhanced collaboration and trust within the Vietnamese innovation ecosystem.
