Further strengthening responsible AI in Vietnam

July 9th, 2024

Australia is realising its commitment to being Vietnam’s trusted ally in navigating the oceans of Industry 4.0 with a clear and ethical compass.

An Aus4Innovation sponsored workshop on “Developing Principles for Responsible AI” united policymakers, AI experts, and practitioners to gather lessons learned from international partners. This builds on the Responsible AI guidelines recently introduced by the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the University of Law at Vietnam National University and the Aus4Innovation Program.

At the workshop, our experts from CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, brought to the table gems from Australia’s journey towards responsible AI and innovation, including responsible AI as an emerging general-purpose technology.

Together, let’s innovate for a brighter, wiser future!

Lively discussions emphasized the critical need for a balanced approach to AI, blending hard laws with soft ethical guidelines to foster trust and ensure a human-centric society where technology serves humanity.

Andy Hall, CSIRO Senior Expert shared about Australian Government’s approach of putting human and communities at the center. This means ensuring AI is designed, developed and deployed with consideration of people’s needs, abilities and social contexts.

Dr. Do Giang Nam from research team at the University of Law, Vietnam National University, presented a summary of international experience in building a set of principles for responsible AI and reference values for Vietnam.
