Fostering agricultural innovation: Gia Lai’s visit to Australia

September 9th, 2024

A delegation from Gia Lai province visited Australia to explore agricultural innovation as part of Aus4Innovation’s Central Highlands’ Regional Innovation Cluster initiative. During their time at CSIRO – Australia’s national science agency and Queensland University, the delegation engaged in valuable discussions that could enhance agricultural sustainable development practices in Vietnam.

The delegates learnt about Australia’s agriculture and food system, including the planning and management approach for agriculture production and trade-offs between forest protection and socio-economic development. They were also keen to learn about inclusive agricultural approaches that enhance people’s livelihoods in Australia.

A highlight was the interest from private sector delegation representatives in the innovative digital pest management technology and advanced plant tissue culture techniques, which could help transform agricultural practices in Gia Lai and the Central Highlands. The delegates also highly appreciated the leadership demonstrated by female scientists in Australia’s research institutions.

This visit symbolises a positive step towards closer collaboration between Gia Lai and Australian institutions, promising a future of shared growth and sustainable development.
